We Go To The Factory. You Don't Have To

Ten years putting factories through the wringer before your name's on the order. We're based in Guangzhou, with people in Shenzhen, Yiwu and Foshan too, so wherever the factory is, someone from our team can walk in the door. Price is settled before we lift a finger, and you'll always know where your shipment actually is.

About Us

Ten years in, still doing it the slow way

We started Manor Sourcing in Guangzhou back in 2015 — just a couple of us and a short list of factories we trusted. It's grown since then, with people now in Shenzhen, Yiwu and Foshan too, but the job hasn't changed: find the right factory, watch the production, and get it on a boat or a plane without anything going sideways.

Every fee goes in the contract before you pay anything, and if a factory's cut corners on us before, we don't go back — doesn't matter how cheap their next quote is. Ten years of this gives you a pretty short list of who not to work with, and it keeps growing whenever someone tries something.

Say it however you're comfortable

English, French, Chinese and Arabic are covered in-house — nobody's relaying your message through a translation app.

Here's what we actually do

Finding the factory, checking the work, doing the paperwork, getting it shipped — we're on all four, and you'll hear from us at each step, not just when something breaks.

Sourcing & Purchasing

Tell us what you need and we'll find who makes it. Ten years of walking factory floors in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Yiwu and Foshan means we already know who's reliable — you just deal with us.

Procurement

Samples, price talks, placing the order, checking in on the factory — we handle each step and keep a record of it, so if you ever need to look back, it's all there.

Quality Control

Before anything ships, someone from our team has looked at it. Wrong size, wrong color, a cracked tile — whatever it is, it doesn't leave the factory. You get the photos and the report either way.

Logistics

We book the sea or air freight and hand you the tracking number — and that's the last surprise you'll get, because the cost was agreed before the container even closed.

What We Source
Industries & products

Tile, furniture, lighting, cars, even produce — if it's made or grown somewhere in China, there's a decent chance we've sourced it before.

Our Process
How we work

Four steps, each one written down and shared with you. Nothing gets decided behind your back.

Get in Touch

Message us on WeChat, WhatsApp, wherever's easiest. Tell us roughly what you're after and we'll get back to you — in English, French, Arabic or Chinese, whichever you'd rather use.

Factory Vetting

Someone walks the factory floor before we agree to anything. Bad conditions, unhappy past clients? We cross them off and move to the next name on the list.

Documented

Inspection & Contract

We check the goods against the order before they go anywhere. Everything you're paying for is written into the contract up front — nothing new shows up later.

Documented

Shipping & Delivery

Sea or air, depending on what you need. You get the tracking number and we stay on it until it actually lands at your door, not just when it leaves the port.

Who We Work With
Built for your industry

Different buyers, but we hold them all to the same standard. Here's who we work with most.

Retailers & Wholesalers

Different products from different factories, all consolidated into one shipment. Usually runs 20 to 35% cheaper than buying local.

Construction & Real Estate

Tile, marble, bathroom fittings, lighting — full project loads at factory prices, checked before they ship so you're not finding the cracked batch on-site.

Importers & Distributors

Ordering regularly? We become the Guangzhou end of your supply chain — same factories, same process every time, so you're not re-explaining yourself with each order.

First-Time Importers

First time buying from China? We'll walk you through picking a factory, getting samples, signing something sensible, and getting it shipped. You don't need to have done this before.

Client Reviews
They came back for a second order
★★★★★

"Found us a tile factory in Foshan for 30% less than our old supplier. They sent photos of every single pallet before it shipped. We've ordered from them three times since."

Building materials importer — France
★★★★★

"Four containers, two years, and every invoice matched what was in the contract down to the dollar. That doesn't happen with most sourcing agents."

Furniture wholesaler — Algeria
★★★★★

"My first time importing from China and I never had to get on a plane. Having someone on their team who actually speaks French made the whole thing a lot less stressful. I'll be back."

FAQ
Common questions

What buyers ask us before they start sourcing from China.

How does it work?

You tell us what you need, we find the factory, check the goods, and get them to you — sea or air, your call. Every fee is written into the contract before you pay anything.

What can you source?

Furniture, tiles, marble, sanitary wares, building materials, lighting, decoration, cars for export, vegetables, fish — pretty much anything that comes out of a Chinese factory or field.

How do you check quality?

Someone goes to the factory, checks the goods against your specs, and sends you photos plus a report. If something's off, it stays there — you're not the one discovering it at delivery.

Are there hidden fees?

No — sourcing, inspection, shipping, handling, it's all written into the contract before we start. If a number changes later, it's because the order changed, not us.

How much does a sourcing company cost?

It really depends on the product and order size, so we won't throw out a number just to sound confident. You get a full cost breakdown before you commit to anything.

Can you handle small orders?

Yes — one product or a full 40ft container, we run the same process either way. Proper sourcing, inspection and documentation, no matter the size.

How long does shipping from China take?

By sea, figure 15 to 45 days depending on where it's going. By air, 3 to 10 days. We'll help you weigh it against your actual budget and deadline.

Do I need to come to China?

No — that's kind of the point of us. We're already here in Guangzhou doing the visits, the negotiating, the inspecting. You stay put, we handle the rest.

What is Guangzhou known for?

It's the manufacturing capital of southern China, and it hosts the Canton Fair — the world's largest trade show — every April and October. Around it: furniture, electronics, ceramics, lighting, sanitary wares, and plenty more. Hard to find a better base for sourcing.

Which SIM card is cheapest in Guangzhou?

Both China Unicom and China Mobile sell tourist plans — around ¥100 ($14) for 30 days and 30-50GB. Pick one up at the airport or any carrier shop. One thing not to forget: Google, WhatsApp and Instagram are blocked here, so grab a VPN before you land.

What scams should buyers watch out for in China?

The tea house scam, fake agents who take a deposit and vanish, factories that ship worse than the sample (why pre-shipment inspection matters), overpriced taxis — use DiDi instead — and fake passes sold outside the Canton Fair itself. Working with a verifiable company under contract sidesteps most of this.

Sourcing agent or sourcing company — what's the difference?

In practice, almost nobody actually distinguishes between the two terms. What matters is whether you're talking to a freelancer or a real operation. For us that means an office in Guangzhou since 2015 — not someone answering from their phone.

How much commission does a sourcing agent charge?

We don't quote a flat percentage — it varies too much by product and order. You see the full cost breakdown before you commit, and nothing gets quietly taken from factories on our end.

Can you source for Amazon FBA or dropshipping?

Yes, regularly. Same process as anything else — we vet the factory, inspect, and ship to your FBA warehouse, a 3PL, or wherever it needs to land. We also buy straight off 1688.com and combine multiple factories into one shipment.

Do I pay before or after I receive the goods?

Never all at once. Usually a deposit to start, then the balance once we've inspected the goods and you've signed off on the report — before shipment, not after. If you'd rather your bank was involved, we can also do Documents against Payment.

Why use a sourcing company in Guangzhou?

Most people's first attempt at buying from China starts on Alibaba, and a lot of second attempts start after the first one went sideways somehow — wrong material, a factory that stopped answering, a shipment that turned up two months late with no warning. That's usually when a sourcing company gets a call.

We've been doing this since 2015, out of Guangzhou, with people also based in Shenzhen, Yiwu and Foshan. Ten years in, you end up with a running list — which factories actually deliver what they promised, and which ones you don't call twice. We've worked across building materials, furniture, lighting, even fresh produce, and that list just keeps getting longer.

What a China sourcing company actually does

Mostly, we're the people who go and look at things you can't see from your office. Someone walks into the factory, checks how the samples were actually made, sits across the table for the price negotiation, and stays involved right up until the container's sealed. You don't need to learn Mandarin or work out customs paperwork — that part's on us.

Where sourcing companies actually differ from each other is what they don't tell you. Some make their real money on a commission quietly baked into the factory price — you'd never see it written anywhere. Ours goes the other way: sourcing fee, inspection fee, shipping, handling, all in the contract before you agree to anything. If a number changes later, it's because the order changed, not because we found a new way to charge you.

Guangzhou: the sourcing capital of China

Guangzhou sits in the middle of Guangdong province, which on its own accounts for a huge share of everything China exports. The Canton Fair runs here twice a year — still the biggest trade fair on earth. Drive an hour in any direction and you hit a zone that specializes in something specific: ceramics and tile out of Foshan, furniture from Shunde, electronics from Shenzhen. Being based here means we can be at most of these factories the same day, not after a flight and a hotel booking.

Quality control matters more than price

The cheapest quote is rarely the one you want. We've had buyers come to us after losing an entire shipment because they picked a factory on price alone and never had anyone check it first. What we do instead: walk the production floor, ask around about their track record, see how the place is actually run, and test samples before any bulk order gets placed. A factory that can't hold a consistent standard doesn't stay on our list, no matter how good their price looks.

Every inspection gets photographed and written up, and you see that report before anything leaves the warehouse. If what came off the line doesn't match your spec, it sits there until it's fixed — it doesn't quietly ship anyway and become your problem at customs.

Sea freight and air freight from China

We arrange both, and which one makes sense depends mostly on how heavy your order is and how much of a hurry you're in. Sea freight leaves out of Nansha Port here in Guangzhou — one of the busier ports anywhere — and takes anywhere from 15 to 45 days depending on where it's headed. Air's faster, 3 to 10 days, and makes more sense for smaller or time-sensitive orders where the extra cost is worth it. Either way, you know the shipping cost before the order leaves the factory, not after.

A sourcing agent for furniture, electronics, apparel, and more

Furniture and electronics don't get sourced the same way, so we split the work by region rather than trying to be generalists everywhere. Furniture runs through our contacts in Foshan and Shunde, which is where most of China's furniture actually gets made. Electronics goes through Shenzhen and Dongguan, where the component makers and assembly lines sit close enough to walk between. For clothing and textiles it's Yiwu and the garment district here in Guangzhou — fabric mills through to finished pieces, at whatever price point you need. Whatever you're buying, it's still one contact on our end managing it, not a different person for every category.

Sourcing agent for Amazon FBA, dropshipping, and 1688 buying

More of our clients these days sell on Amazon or run dropshipping stores than run a warehouse of their own, and the process barely changes for it — we still check the factory, inspect against your listing photos and specs, and ship it wherever it needs to land, whether that's an FBA prep center, a 3PL, or your own address. We also buy straight off 1688.com, which is closer to where Chinese factories actually sell (Alibaba's mostly built for foreign buyers), and we'll combine orders from a few different factories into one shipment so you're not paying separate freight for each.

How you pay — and how you stay protected

There are two ways we usually structure this, and you pick whichever you're more comfortable with. Most people go with deposit plus balance — you pay something to start the order, we get it made and inspected, and you pay the rest once you've seen the inspection report and you're happy with it, before it ships. If you'd rather your bank was involved, we can set up Documents against Payment instead: the factory ships, and your bank holds the shipping documents until you've paid for them. Just worth knowing that D/P checks your paperwork, not your product — your bank isn't looking at the goods, so we'd still recommend a physical inspection alongside it, not as a replacement for it. Whichever way you go, it's written into the contract before we start, not negotiated halfway through.
